Basic FAQ

Common questions

Folder

How do I scan more files?

The app scans only the folder you select. Choose a parent folder if you want it to look through several subfolders.

Results

Why is a file missing?

Results are limited to supported documents, ebooks, audio, images, and video. Hidden data, source code, repositories, generated folders, symlinks, and files owned by another account are skipped.

Dates

What does “oldest” mean?

The app uses the filesystem creation date. It skips files without a usable creation date instead of guessing from a modified date.

Account

Do I need to sign in?

No. Your Oldest File has no user accounts, login, or cloud service.

Purchase

Are there purchases to restore?

The app has no in-app purchases or subscriptions. App downloads and re-downloads are managed by the Mac App Store.

Data

How do I delete my account or data?

There is no account to delete and the developer receives no user data. Scan results remain in memory only and are cleared when you close the app.

Privacy and data requests

Your files stay on your Mac

Your Oldest File does not collect or transmit personal data, so there is no developer-held account or scan data to retrieve or delete. Read the full policy for details about folder access, on-device processing, retention, and user control.
